31DC2012 DAY 21: inspired by a color

i got home from my trip last night and couldn't wait to wear something brighter on my nails. it's been ridiculously cold and grey today in nashville, so this cheery green was the perfect thing.

i picked this combo of polishes in the attempt to recreate the look of a gorgeous (but discontinued) shade- misa silk robe. it's so stunning and drool-worthy, my brain almost can't handle it. so i had the idea to try to recreate it after seeing this post about getting the look of opi creme de menthe without having to troll ebay and drop about $50+. how did my copycat attempt turn out?

1 coat wet 'n wild megalast i need a refresh-mint + 1 (thin) coat opi sit under the apple tree

the opi topcoat changed the color of i need a refresh-mint (see swatches here) to a brighter aqua color. totally gorgeous. plus i love the gold shimmer. this was a total success (at least in my eyes). don't you just love layering??

i'm not sure how similar to silk robe this manicure is (i've never seen it in person), but it doesn't really matter because i'm head-over-heels about this layering combo. anyone else tried sit under the apple tree over another shade?
