gargantuan mistake

if you've read my previous posts, you know that opi gargantuan green grape was a big let-down for me when i saw it in person. what i thought was going to be a sort of pastel lime green turned out to be just a run-of-the-mill blue-toned mint. not at all what i was wanting. observe-

2 (thick!) coats opi gargantuan green grape- most color-accurate

if i take it for what it is (a blue-toned mint), then it's a very pretty color. a little reminiscent of toothpaste, but pretty nonetheless. however, it was super sheer and streaky. i had to wrestle with this one to get it to apply well, but you can still see some bubbling in the 2nd pic if you look closely. certainly not what i would expect from a reputable brand like opi. good thing i only have 3 of their polishes. . . .

at first i thought that i had purchased a knock-off bottle from a seller on ebay, but from a quick google images search, it seems like there might be two different versions floating around out there. . . . for example, look at the gorgeous bright green swatches from i love nail polish, which is the polish i thought i was getting. then click on this pic from polishpedia. how can there be such a discrepancy?? i mean, one's not even green, people! not cool, opi, not cool. . . .

  1. I liked the colour alot (not sure which version I had) But the terrible formula turned me completely off.So I passed mine off to another polish fanatic who magicly made it work! I LOVE how it looks on you in the 3rd pic.

    1. Oh, OK, so mine's not the only one with a terrible formula. I'm glad it worked for somebody though :). Thanks!

  3. What if you took Sinful Colors Pistache and added white to it? Would that give you the pastel-y lime green? I don't have it in front of me right now but it seems close.
