i have another franken to show you today . i saw online swatches of this polish, face of australia barbados orange you glad you came (phew, what a mouthful), and fell in love with it . since i've never heard of this brand, i figured it would be easier to recreate it than to actually locate it anywhere for purchase . i named it australian oranges, which is a whole heck of a lot shorter than the original name .
2 coats australian oranges franken |
hidden gold shimmer |
there's 2 things i love about this shade . first, the gold shimmer, of course . gold shimmer is the soy sauce of the nail polish world- it makes even yucky things more appealing . the second thing i love is the unique shade- it's kind of a cross between peach and orange . apricot, maybe? i don't know, but i'm loving it . as is my skin tone . orange is very questionable on my pasty skin, but this one is actually flattering . cool.
here are all the polishes i mixed together in the making of australian oranges :
pure ice twinkle, revlon peach smoothie, l.a. colors color craze shock, china glaze white cap |
i tried to pick shades that already had golden shimmer, then added white cap for more shimmer . if you clicked over to see swatches of the original shade, you'll see that the color is spot-on . however, my franken isn't nearly as shimmery as the real polish . boo . i guess i could always go back and add more white cap, but i kinda like my franken as it is .
You did a great job. I think the swatch looks more golden because of the lighting and macro shots. your franken is pretty close to the original.
ReplyDeleteHey thanks! Even if it weren't that close, I still ended up liking the result, so I guess that's good :).
DeleteLove this! I want one, too. I've never seen the original, but I want your franken! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nidia! I've never seen the original either :P Just a wild stab.
